BTC dominance comes directly from CoinGecko's global market data (no calculation on our end). The rotation label compares BTC's own 24-hour price change against the average 24-hour change of the other tracked coins: a gap of ≥3 percentage points either way reads Alts Outperforming or BTC Outperforming; anything smaller reads In Line.
In Signal Confluence, Alts Outperforming counts as the "positive" reading here — the same broadening-participation convention Top Sectors and Capital Flow use — not a call that altcoins are the better trade. An In Line reading is left out of Signal Confluence entirely rather than forced green or red, and BTC dominance rising or falling says nothing about where the total market is headed.
Distinguishes a market where gains are concentrated in Bitcoin from one where participation has broadened into altcoins — two very different market states that a single "market is up" headline can't tell apart.
